JESSE CHRISTESON, cello

Jesse Christeson is a frequent feature in the American contemporary music scene. He is cellist of dynamic Boston-based ensembles Hub New Music and Phoenix: The Orchestra Reborn, and a recurring guest of ensemblenewSRQ (Sarasota, FL). As a member of the 2014 and ‘15 Tanglewood New Fromm Players, he twice featured in Hong Kong’s contemporary festival The Intimacy of Creativity. Prior to moving to Boston, Mr. Christeson was tenured as Principal Cellist of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, where he gave numerous premieres of chamber works by Mississippi-based composers.

Mr. Christeson is also active as a professional singer in Boston. Recent seasons saw him perform in the opera choruses of Eugene Onegin, Carmen, Ouroboros Trilogy, and Song From the Uproar, plus record several projects with Vox Futura. He was a member of the Houston Grand Opera and Bach Society choruses from 2010-13. Originally from Daytona Beach, FL, Jesse Christeson received degrees in Cello and Voice from Stetson University (studio of David Bjella), and in Cello from Rice University (studio of Norman Fischer). Apart from Tanglewood, Mr. Christeson’s recent summer engagements include the festivals of Spoleto USA, Aspen, Brevard, and the National Orchestral Institute. He performs on an 1888 Carlo Loveri cello from Naples, Italy.
