JOHN DEMARTINO, BASS

John DeMartino graduated from Boston University in 2019 where he received his bachelor’s of music in double bass performance and musicology. His primary teachers have included Edwin Barker, Todd Seeber, and Thomas Van Dyck of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He also spent time at the Royal College of Music in London studying with Anthony Hougham, principal double bass with the orchestra of the Royal Opera House.

As a student he has sat principal in the Boston University Orchestras and Wind Ensemble, and in addition to his coursework he has also collaborated with colleagues on numerous orchestral and chamber projects. As a boston-based freelancer, he has performed with various groups including Phoenix and the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. His passion for orchestral playing has also led him to attend the National Orchestral Institute of the University of Maryland, and the Roundtop Festival Institute in Texas.
